Green Day releasing 2 documentaries featuring the new and the old

Apparently plans to record and release 3 new albums wasn’t enough for Green Day.  Now the band has announced they will complimenting the releases of “Uno!”, “Dos!” and “Tre!” with not one, but two documentaries.

One will chronicle the recording of the new albums while the other will be made entirely of footage from their pre-“Dookie” days.

Singer Billie Joe Armstrong states:

“It’s not going to be the sitting down, head shot of me going, ‘We started out blah blah blah’. We wanted to get into lifestyles of rock ‘n’ roll and playing rock n roll and letting the story kind of tell itself rather than create revisionist (history).”

Fans can expect the films between the months of September and January.  More info here.

The first album in the trilogy, ¡Uno! arrives on September 25th, while ¡Dos! comes out on November 13th and ¡Tré! will be released on January 15th of next year. Their most recent studio album, 21st Century Breakdown, came out in 2009.
