For those of you bummed out by the announcement that Boston punk act Street Dogs would be going on hiatus for 2013, this news will surely brighten your spirits. It certainly did mine.
According to a recent update on Facebook it looks like Street Dogs will be periodically releasing a set of new 7″ singles throughout the year containing 3 or 4 songs each. They will be released via Pirates Press records and be available on vinyl and mp3 on iTunes, Google Play etc.
As if that wasn’t enough good news, the band will also be heading into the studio to record a new album this Summer, which they hope to release in October. They’re also hinting at a Winter tour. Booyah!
Singer Mike McColgan also states that he and Street Dogs bassist Johnny Rioux along with Rick Barton (Continental, ex-Dropkick Murphys) are currently working on a little side project. Expect some songs soon and a formal release later this year.
Street Dogs released their fifth studio album, Street Dogs, in 2010 via Hellcat Records and announced their short lived hiatus last November.
