Ever wonder where some bands come up with their band names? Well, we do, and we’re sick of sitting around scratching our heads about it. We’re hitting the streets (aka. “Internet”) to find the origins behind some of the more bizarre, intriguing or just plain random band names in the scene. Every Wednesday we’ll be pulling the curtain back on a different band and this week it’s punk gone mega rock group My Chemical Romance.
This one seemed appropriate today since the first track of the band’s upcoming album was just leaked. According to legend (read: the internet) the name of the band was suggested by bass guitarist Mikey Way, younger brother of lead singer Gerard, who was working in a library when he was struck by the title of a book named “Ecstacy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance”. The phrase “Chemical Romance” really resonated with him and band name history was soon born…
