When Calgary’s No Brainer arrived on the scene in 2018, their presence was felt immediately, striking like a zig-zag of lightning at the tip of a monument. In their short time as a band, No Brainer has garnered acclaim for their kinetic live shows, blending elements of old-school hardcore with pop-punk sensibilities. No Brainer’s energy is as much Bouncing Souls as it is early-era Descendents, alleyway grit meets suburban snark. Pogo-inducing jams blend with anthemic sing-alongs that contemplate a broad swath of existential subjects in a way that is accessible and, really, fun.
