We recently caught up with Swingin’ Utters vocalist Johnny “Peebucks” Bonnel to get his take on the songs that got him in to punk rock. Check it out here.
1. Sex Pistols – “Bodies”
“Being raised catholic, I had to listen to this on volume level 1. As soon as parents were out of earshot, volume level 10!”
2. The Clash – “What’s My Name”
“Not my favorite Clash song, but Joe sounds so loony it gets me going!”
3. Buzzcocks – “Breakdown”
“I don’t care what anyone says, great guitar tone!”
4. Ramones – “Chainsaw”
“Again, not my favorite Ramone’s song, but music has to have a sense of humor for me. Love the pronunciation of “massacre””
5. Velvet Underground – “I’m waiting for the man”
“Relentless! I’m in love!”
6. Toots and the Maytals – “5446 was my number”
“It’s a reggae song, but so fucking tough!”
7. Thee Mighty Caesars – “The Double Axe”
“Billie Childish is IT for me! Constantly creating and dealing with demons is admirable.”
8. WIRE – “Surgeon’s Girl”
“I had to pick one from my favorite record and this one has me bouncing off the walls every time!”
9. The Replacements – “Unsatisfied”
“Being unsatisfied is all about who we are!”
10. Bad Brains – “Pay to Cum”
“Innovative and coming out of D.C.?!?”
