As you may recall, last November, Bad Brains guitarist Dr. Know was hospitalized and put on life support. This time, the band released a statement on their Facebook page, stating that they have launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money in order to pay for Dr Know’s medical bills. They write:
“As many of you know, Gary Miller (aka Dr. Know or Doc), guitarist of the Legendary Washington DC punk band Bad Brains, suffered cardiac arrest in early November last year. His condition quickly progressed to multiple organ failure, and he was on life support for almost 2 weeks. At the time, his doctors gave him a 5% chance of survival. But by the power of PMA, LOVE and FAMILY, he was able to pull through and survive.
We started this campaign in an effort to raise money for Doc’s medical expenses and additional care that will be needed once he returns home.

The link that Bad Brains are referring to is the GoFundMe.com link, and you can go here to read more about the campaign.
Bad Brains recorded a new EP in New York last May, with frontman H.R. not participating, and as early as 2014, they were in the studio working on what appears to be the follow-up to 2012’s Into the Future. We’ll keep you posted as more details on new music from Bad Brains come to light.
