The family of Joey Ramone has been hanging on to a lot of his personal memorabilia in the more than twelve years since his death. Now, they’re planning to auction a lot of it off.
Up for auction will be one of Joey’s trademark leather jackets, as well as several guitars, an old passport, some eyeglasses, and a large collection of t-shirts sporting the logos of some of his favorite bands (Nirvana, The Beatles, The Misfits and more).
Here’s Bobby Livingston, president of the auction:
“Joey Ramone is the patriarch of punk rock. His place in music history is undisputed,Joey was inadvertently as well known for his contributions to fashion—as for inventing a new genre of music. You simply can not think of Joey Ramone and not picture him in some of these essential items from his wardrobe that we are proud to be able display for his fans at the Bowery.”
The auction is set for Thursday, February 21st at the Marvels of Modern Music expo in Amherst, New Hampshire, but there’s a special preview for NYC folks tomorrow (February 7th) at the Bowery Electric. Head here to see info about the NYC preview, and here to see pictures of all of the memorabilia.
We miss you, Joey.
