Well this story has been swirling around the music news blogs all day so while its not about a punk band, I think it will still be interesting to most readers. Looks like front man Randy Blythe of metal act Lamb of God has been charged with manslaughter after a fan died following an altercation with Blythe on fucking STAGE in Prague. The incident happened in 2010 and is only now catching up with the band.
Reports of the incident vary depending on the source. The band’s management claims that after a fan bum rushed the stage Blythe only pushed the fellow back into the audience where he unfortunately hit his head, putting him into a coma where he died 2 weeks later.
“Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head.”
A report from a fan who was actually in attendance describes the singer’s role as a bit more involved. Translated from a Czech blog:
“At first Randy hit him a lot, then Randy jumped on him to hold him down while he continued singing? When the fan got up, Randy took him by the hair and threw down quite quickly.”
Either way, the event is obviously tragic but there are lots of conflicting reports floating around. I’m sure this will blow over for Blythe. I mean, before you pass judgement yourself, just ask yourself, does this really look like the face of a killer?
