According to Billboard.com, O.C. punk legends The Offspring reacquired the rights to their albums on Columbia Records last year, and are now auctioning off the rights to all their albums on that label and songwriting credits for approximately $30 to $35 million. The deal could result in a new album, which will be their first since 2012’s Days Go By.
All the albums The Offspring released on Columbia are Ixnay on the Hombre (1997), Americana (1998), Conspiracy of One (2000), Splinter (2003), Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace (2008) and Days Go By (2012). Their most recent single “Coming for You”, which came out last January, was released on Time Bomb Recordings.
Billboard also reports that, according to sources, The Offspring’s assets generate an estimated $3.1 million in combined annual net publisher’s share and label share. Sony Music and publishing company Round Hill are reportedly two of the parties interested in acquiring the catalog.
