So a few hours ago, we posted the earth shattering news that Tom Delonge had quit Blink-182 and that the band would be touring with Matt Skiba as a temporary replacement.
Well now apparently Tom Delonge is claiming that he never actually quit the band. In a somewhat (very) bizarre instagram post, he had the following to say:
To all the fans, I never quit the band. I actually was on a phone call about a blink 182 event for New York City at the time all these weird press releases started coming in… Apparently those releases were ‘sanctioned’ from the band. Are we dysfunctional- yes. But, Christ….. #Awkward #BabyBackRibs
I’m just as confused as you are. We’ll keep you guys updated once more details come to light. Blink-182 last self-released an EP entitled “Dogs Eating Dogs” in December of 2012 after parting ways with Interscope Records.
UPDATE: Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker have confirmed DeLonge is no longer a member of the band, and that his retaliatory statement was false. More info here.
