The Offspring to self-release new single, might release new EP

Earlier this month, The Offspring frontman Dexter Holland said that he wasn’t sure if the band’s next musical output will come in the form of a full-length studio album. In a recent interview, Dexter said that he is still open to recording an album, and the band is planning to self-release a single this fall. He explains:

“Not that I wouldn’t want to do an album again, because I think they’re important. But for now, I think it’s better to put out singles here and there. Just to keep the fire stoked.”

In other news, gutiarist Noodles revealed that The Offspring are not in full album mode, but have completed 3 or 4 songs for a possible new EP. About the possibility of new music, Noodles told Yahoo!“We’re old-school, so when we think of recording, we think of doing a whole record. But the world is changing. Why make fans wait two years when some of the songs are going to be done in a month? Maybe it’s a better idea to put those songs out and then slowly compile another album.”

Earlier this month, The Offspring released the covers EP Summer Nationals exclusively on iTunes and Spotify via Time Bomb, which was released to coincide with the Summer Nationals tour with Bad ReligionPennywiseThe Vandals and Stiff Little Fingers. Noodles recently stated that the band expects to begin work on new music after the tour.
