Screeching Weasel tried, and notoriously failed, to pull off a 25th anniversary celebratio about a year-and-a-half ago. Now, Ben and the boys are trying again.
Plans have been announced for a Screeching Weasel 27th anniversary bash, set to take place at Reggie’s in Chicago on December 30th and 31st. Support acts will include The Queers, They Stay Dead, Vatican Junkies, and Italy’s the Manges. Here’s the statement straight from the weasel’s mouth:
Strike up the band, roll out the barrel and batten down the hatches, sportsfans! I normally take winters off but this was too good to pass up – a two-night 27th anniversary bash at Reggie’s in Chicago! We tried and failed to put on a gala for Screeching Weasel’s 25th anniversary but let’s face it, a shindig for the 27th anniversary is more fitting anyway. We’ve got two shows planned for Dec. 30th and the following night, New Year’s Eve. Of course the Queers will be joining us both nights, as will the Manges all the way from La Spezia, Italy. The Vatican Junkies will open on the 30th, and They Stay Dead will join us on New Year’s. Some of the gang will be doing DJ sets in the Lounge next door after the shows and we’ve got a couple other tricks up our sleeves, all in the name of celebrating 27 years of this absurdity.
Screeching Weasel’s last release was last October’s “Carnival of Schadenfreude.”
