Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has announced he and Pinhead Gunpowder band-mate Bill Schneider will be opening a guitar shop called Broken Guitars in Oakland, California. The store is set open on April 3rd, and it will be located at 423 40th Street – directly across the street from 1-2-3 Go! Records, which once occupied the space.
Roughly 75 guitars will be on the wall when Broken Guitars opens, with a majority of the inventory coming from Armstrong and Schneider’s personal collections. A wide variety of amplifiers and full-service repairs on instruments and amps will also be available.
Schneider says that he and Armstrong “want to be a shop for musicians,” adding that the focus of Broken Guitars’ inventory will be used American guitars. The store’s target audience is players on a budget, so the instruments will generally range in price from $400 to $800.
