Last night, when The Offspring were interviewed on Rockline, a fan asked the band if there will be anything “hardcore” on their next album. Frontman Dexter Holland talked a little a bit about it, responding:
“There’s hardcore on every record. You know…I mean, we grew up inspired by punk rock and that’s really what made us wanna start the band and it’s kind of the core of who we are musically as a band, and so, that part always comes out on every record, I think we would never get away from that completely. With that being said, we do from time to time, you know, experiment and try different stuff and that’s what keeps it fresh for us and keeps the records interesting for us, but I mean, we’re basically a punk band.”

The Offspring’s latest album Days Go By was released in June on Columbia Records.
Add The Offspring to My Radar

I unlike most, like the variety they give on records, hardcore, punk, pop punk , reggae
If they go “hardcore” on their next record, I hope it’ll have the same sound as Ignition, not having any reggae-like elements.
what a joke. the real question is will there ever be a record WITHOUT “experimentation” and lately, gigantic arena-style production. don’t get me wrong, i’m fine with some variety, but it has to be done well. this band used to be able to do amazing dark humor, like in “beheaded” and hand grenades.” they since have confronted wiggers, don’t drop the soap in prison jokes, and autotune. when you release an album with bob rock, wait five years to let your fans hear any new material, only for it to consist of a foo fighters ripoff and an overproduced parody that isn’t that far off from your own (supposedly serious) overproduced music, you have no credibility. green day is more “punk” than this band, and that’s saying something.
“We’re basically a punk band” since when? the last time these guys produced any genuine punk music was before Americana. I used to love them back in the day. Ignition, Smash, Ixnay they were all really good records but for the last 10 or so years they have been nothing but an awful generic pop band so far removed from the band that everyone loved.
nice rant robert. just remember this. you arent in the band. dont like the albums. dont buy em. a band writes what comes naturally. people evolve and change, yes change. The Offspring have had jokes songs on every cd they have done. its as much part of their history as anything. im excited they are still writing things
Yea pretty generic now Robert nailed it
I hope it doesn’t take them as long as the last time!!!
if you think green day is more punk then offspring you are a idiot i don’t see the offspring on tmz
also screw you Alex 101
