H2O enter the studio to record cover album “Don’t Forget Your Roots”

Pretty awesome story from the old school for your Hump Day afternoon. NYC hardcore vets H2O recently entered the recording studio to work on an album of covers that they’ve titled “Don’t Forget Your Roots.” The band will offer up their take on classic songs from bands that they find influential, and the list is pretty killer: Ramones, The Clash, Dag Nasty, Madball, Rancid, Circle Jerks, Descendents, Bad Brains, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Cro-Mags, Government Issue, Verbal Assault, Gorilla Biscuits, Embrace, Warzone, Social Distortion, 7 Seconds and Sick Of It All are all included.

“Don’t Forget Your Roots” is slated for release this fall on Bridge Nine Records. We’ll keep you updated as soon as more information (tracklist, release date, etc) is released. For now, you can click here to see what H2O frontman Toby Morse had to say about the release.

“This album is extremely important to us. These are bands that inspired us to start a band and who have inspired our personal lives. Also with so many young kids getting into hardcore every day, it’s good to always keep exposing them to the ROOTS of this music and getting them into some of the originators of hardcore/punk. We have all gotten to see this bands play live when we were young so covering their songs that made us happy and inspired as kids feels amazing and we feel honored.”
