Koffin Kats announce split with 12 Step Rebels and fall tour

koffin-kats-forever-for-hireDetroit rockabilly crew The Koffin Kats have announced that they’ll be putting out a split with 12 Step Rebels, a band which had previously broken up. The album will be recorded this summer for a Halloween release, and will feature 5 originals and 1 cover song from each band. It will be The Koffin Kats’ follow-up to 2009’s Forever For Hire, which was released on Stomp Records.

The band also announced that they’ll be embarking on a coast-to-coast tour of the United States and Canada this fall – it all kicks off on September 18. The update also contains news on how new guitarist EZ Ian is fitting in, as he recently replaced long-time member Tommy Koffin. Turns out Ian is doing pretty well, despite numerous wedgies from Vic Victor and E-Ball Walls. Tommy, who retired from the band due to bad knees and back, is doing very well in Michigan.

The Koffin Kats are currently on the road in a US tour, and they leave next week for Europe, where they’ll be playing until late June. The band will also be playing The Hootenany in Irvine, CA, on July 3. Get all the details at Dying Scene shows.
