Pennywise guitarist Fletcher Dragge recently told Australia’s The Music that, to coincide with their 25th anniversary, they will be releasing a box set containing never-before heard music, and will begin work on a new album towards the end of this year, which will be their first with Jim Lindberg on vocals since 2008’s Reason to Believe. He states:
“Our first order of business is trying to put together a cool box set to celebrate our 25th anniversary as a band. It’s going to be really comprehensive and has a bunch of songs that didn’t make past albums as well as outtakes and randomly recorded stuff that we think is cool as well other stuff that’s never been heard.”
Fletcher was also asked about new music with Jim on vocals, in which he responded, “Well, actually, the box set is going to include two or three brand new songs. The band is obviously in a good place at the moment so we want to take advantage of that. Once those tracks have been done we’re going to start working on a brand new Pennywise album towards the end of this year. Things are now moving pretty fast for us so we hope all our fans stick with us and get ready for some great stuff in the future.”
Pennywise’s latest album, All or Nothing, was released last May on Epitaph Records and is, so far, their only recording with Zoli Teglas from Ignite. After the release of that album, Jim Lindberg (who left the band back in 2009) finally rejoined Pennywise after Zoli’s departure.
