Rise Against on new album: “Fast and screamy”

In a recent interview with Dutch music magazine RMP, Rise Against had just a few words about work on their next album:

“Recently you announced that you are working on some new material. What can we expect?

I really don’t know ! We never know to be honest. We just get in a room and play the same way we all started bands when we were kids. I’ve been missing some of the heavy and fast and screamy parts we used to do more often, maybe something like that, something a little more raw and exposed, we still have that fire inside us and we’re unapologetic about it.

Your previous album Endgame touched social topics such as hurricane Katrina and homophobia. What has left an impression in this recent period to get you writing again?

I feel like my generation has an unclear take on issues like gun control and labor unions. I feel like these are two important issues and I meet too many people who don’t understand what a union is and why it exists, and I meet too many people who don’t realize that the rest of the world does not wrestle with anything close to what America wrestles with in terms in gun control. I don’t know if this will be something that will end up on our record by the time we make it, but they are weighing on me at the moment.”

The band last released “Endgame” in 2011 on Interscope Records.
