A few weeks ago I did a write up on a Chinese punk band called SMZB. In the article I mentioned Demerit as one of the key band’s keeping the scene alive in Beijing. The band have announced they will be heading to the US for a tour later this year. They will be playing for a month straight, starting on October 5th in Seattle and will be supported by Ground Score and Escape From The Zoo. Check out the full list of dates below.
I was lucky enough to catch them playing last year and go out for a few beers with them after the show. They are a great bunch of guys and I hope as many people as possible can go support them. Being a punk band in China is not easy and the band has had problems with their lyrics being censored in the past. But they have been around for over 10 years now and are still going strong.
You can listen to my favourite album “Bastards Of The Nation” here.
