Pup have released a new animated video for the song off their latest album Morbid Stuff, “Sibling Rivalry” which is illustrated by the band’s own Stefan, who says of the video:
“This song is about weirdo camping trips my sister and I take every year. We’ve gotten lost in the Northwest Territories, spent 3 weeks drifting down a river in the Yukon, and have been stranded in a blizzard on Cape Horn. Almost all of these trips end in disaster, which I guess means we are really bad at camping. But they are also some of the most fun things I’ve ever done in my life.
I started drawing comics to try and tell some of these stories, and those comics formed the basis of this video. The thing is, I’m really really bad at drawing. I draw like a 5 year old, but I love doing it. There’s something liberating about diving headfirst into something you know is going to turn out like absolute trash. Luckily for me and the puppies, we have a friend named Marty MacPherson who is an incredible artist and animator, and he really helped bring these stories to life, and injected a ton of his own personality into the thing.”

Dutch skate punks Ink Bomb have just released the second single off their upcoming album, Fiction, which is due August 23. The song is called “Scourge,” even though it wasn’t always.
“Before the song was named Scourge, ‘Poppy song’ was the working title during song writing. We called it that way, because the song is more pop punk than many of our other songs,” says drummer Paul van de Geijn. “We wrote multiple new songs at the same time. This way, we immediately knew what new song we were talking about in the rehearsal room.”
Do you like this poppy direction from Ink Bomb? Listen to “Scourge” below.

If ever there was a single song stream that could convince me to buy an entire album without hearing the entire thing, this might be it. Liverpool’s gritty pop-punk act Pardon Us will be releasing “Wait” on September 13th through Everything Sucks Music (UK) and Johann’s Face Records (US). To prime their fans they’re streaming the track “Inconvenient Reminder” ahead of the release and it 100% grabbed my attention. Let it grab yours below.
Of the track, the band writes:
Much of our music is about being directionless 30-somethings but more ‘political’ tracks like Inconvenient Reminder have found their way into our writing in response to events in recent years.
This will be the Pardon Us’s first release since the 2017 self-titled EP.
It is an absolute mystery to me how New York’s Prince Daddy & The Hyena aren’t signed to a prominent label or how not more people are talking about them. But then again, maybe they are now. With the release of their new album “Cosmic Thrill Seekers” this band is destined to end up on a lot more […]
It is an absolute mystery to me how New York’s Prince Daddy & The Hyena aren’t signed to a prominent label or how not more people are talking about them. But then again, maybe they are now. With the release of their new album “Cosmic Thrill Seekers” this band is destined to end up on a lot more people’s radars. If I had to try to describe it I think I’d go with Fat Wreck’s Closet Friends meets Jeff Rosenstock, but draw your own comparisons by streaming the entire album below. If you dig what you hear you can download it for free on bandcamp.
Since their recent foray into the world of brand marketing, Mean Jeans have been living the life: chugging Mountain Dew, scarfing Totino’s, auditioning for the next Bill & Ted’s excellent adventure, and generally keeping it real. Since their recent foray into the world of brand marketing, Mean Jeans have been living the life: chugging Mountain Dew, scarfing Totino’s, auditioning for the next Bill & Ted’s excellent adventure, and generally keeping it real.
Lucky for us, they found the time to bang out a new album, and according to their publicicst it’s a ripper! Mean Jean’s new full-length, Gigantic Sike, hits the streets on August 30th through Fat Wreck Chords. The first single, “Party Line,” is meant to be cranked up with the top down. Check it out below.
Here’s an endorsement from the party captain himself, Billy Jeans:
“Selling out to Mountain Dew wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be, so Mean Jeans are back with a straight-up stripped-down party punk record. It’s called Gigantic Sike. It was gonna be called something more reasonable and the songs were gonna be more marketable and I was gonna get a real job, but we put a big ‘ol sike on it instead. ‘Party Line’ is basically a jingle for the party hotline that nobody seems to be calling anymore. (My cell phone). Give it a try, I’m standing by.”
