Formed in 1979 in Austin, Texas then drifting to San Francisco and settling in Portland, Oregon, MDC is a mainstay of the hardcore political punk movement. Despite their shifting lineup and hiatus, MDC has kept a consistent sound for all of their releases, revolving around thrashy drums and heavy basslines. They have periodically changed the meaning of “MDC”, the most frequent being Millions of Dead Cops. Other monikers they have released under Millions of Damn Christians, Millennium Death Corporation, Magnus Dominus Corpus, and Metal Devil Cokes.
