The Dread Crew of Oddwood Bio:

The Dread Crew of Oddwood is a "heavy mahogany" pirate band from San Diego. What is "heavy mahogany" music, you ask? It's a blend of acoustic folk rock, heavy metal, Celtic punk and traditional Irish music...played by pirates. Forming in fall of 2008, this adventurous and outrageously energetic group of brigands has already taken renaissance fair circuits, pub communities, private residences and music venues by storm throughout the entire nation. They have a slew of valiant, terrifying, and amusing songs spewing tales of destruction, debauchery, and camaraderie, all performed with the unique instrumental lineup that makes the group stand out amongst their genre.

Featuring Captain Wolfbeard O’Brady on accordion and whistles, Riven Rahl on toy piano, Rouba Juba on mandolin and steel-string guitar, Stark Cordwain on Irish bouzouki and tinwhistle, Deckard Cordwain on ukulele, Smithy Crow on upright bass, and Gunmaster Castle on a mini drum contraption and steel pans, Oddwood is steadfast gaining popularity in the pirate music genre with their epic seafaring sound and extensive vocal harmonization.

The Dread Crew of Oddwood has received local and national radio play, as well as being featured in various media outlets, including The Los Angeles Times, Volcom Online, San Diego CityBeat and San Diego Reader. The group has also performed and been interviewed on KUSI News in San Diego, Ch. 5 News in Seattle, and various radio programs, joined the select lineup of musicians included on the popular New Orleans music preservation CD series, Lafitte's Return, and performs at some of the largest fairs in America, including The Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire, The Bristol Renaissance Faire, and the LA County Fair; all with attendances in the hundreds of thousands.

Oddwood has been described by countless viewers as “amazing”, “high-energy rogues”, "the preeminent, fully authentic pirate band", “thoroughly entertaining”, “incredibly talented”, "a pirate Dethklok / Oingo Boingo", and “musically brilliant, rum-soaked madmen”.

If you’re looking for an excellent mixture of grandiose performance and humor with a fiendishly piratical twist, The Dread Crew of Oddwood is at your service!
