The Lagan Bio:
The Lagan started its life like all the best ideas always do... two friends talkin' shite in a pub over several pints of the black stuff. The plan was to create the worlds best 'malfunction' band, who would play rowdy covers at parties of people slightly more drunk than ourselves for the princely fee of a couple pints and a plate of chips.
Needless to say, nothing happened for ages. And ages.
Until one day, in a minging rehearsal room in Leatherhead, a few brave souls gathered to see what sort of unholy racket they could make. In time, more lost souls climbed aboard the good ship Lagan, all prepared to sacrifice life and liver to create a sound with its collective feet planted firmly in traditonal Irish music, punk rock, ska and a bit of whatever you fancy. We are The Lagan, the world's first malfunction band. We're probably the best band on the stage, and it's probably our round.
The Lagan's gigs are packed with smiling, merry, sweat- and beer-soaked attendees from every demographic. In these last few years we have sold out the Spice of Life in Soho, and Barfly in Camden; been embraced warmly by the existing London Celtic Punk scene, sharing stages with BibleCode Sundays, Neck, The Roughneck Riot, Smokey Bastard, The Dreadnoughts, and Bastards On Parade; we were selected by IN-GB to perform in their 2011 St Patrick’s Day Parade Battle of the Bands; and each St Patrick’s Day, we've headlined Banquet Record's infamous indie club nights D.A.N.C.E and New Slang - slots usually reserved for bands on the cusp of stardom - to packed crowds of dancing, singing, jigging revellers.
2012 sees us in the recording studio and playing across the UK, with forays further afield - Check your gardens, local pubs, venues and festivals - if we're not already booked to play near ya, give us a shout and we'll see what we can do. Sláinte!
