Benefit show for Bad Brains’ Dr. Know to be held in New York

A benefit concert for Bad Brains guitarist Dr. Know will be held on July 23rd at Tompkins Square Park in New York City to raise awareness of the plight of the legendary member of Bad Brains, who has had some issues in over the last seven months. Sponsored by Black N’ Blue Productions and NYHC Chronicles, the benefit include performances from Breakdown, Token Entry, The Cro-Mags, Antidote and Maximum Penalty, and attendees will be able to support Dr. Know’s Go Fund Me campaign on-site at a station that will be accepting donations.

Dr. Know was hospitalized last November for cardiac arrest, and the band launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money in order to pay for his medical bills. He is not the only member of Bad Brains to be dealing with health issues. Last March, Bad Brains frontman H.R. was suffered from a rare neurobiological disorder.

Bad Brains recorded a new EP in New York in May of last year, with frontman H.R. not participating, and as early as 2014, they were in the studio working on what appears to be the follow-up to 2012’s Into the Future. We’ll keep you posted as more details on new music from Bad Brains come to light.
