Dan O’Gorman, guitarist and vocalist for beloved skate punk band Much The Same has been diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer. According to a Facebook status from the band, he will be starting chemotherapy in September and will be undergoing surgery at a later, unspecified date. Whilst words from the Much The Same camp are ones of optimism, such medical procedures do not come cheap and donations towards the cost of Dan’s care are being accepted via a dedicated GoFundMe page. Below is an excerpt from the band’s statement on the matter:
“The salary of a high school teacher / punk rocker isn’t terribly helpful in situations like this… Thanks in advance for supporting Dan in whatever way you’re able. Please let him know you’re rooting for him.“
Naturally, Dan will be unable to make the South American tour dates scheduled with Face to Face this October, and as such Much The Same have recruited John Feliciano to fill in on guitar duties. In addition to this tour, Much The Same have been making good progress towards a new album, largely penned by Dan himself. They hope to continue to work on this as and when Dan’s health allows his further contributions.
