This Show Is Tonight: Porter Robinson makes us SMILE! :D

We often talk about enduring bands as rock and roll survivalists, skillfully weathering trends and scenes to stay relevant as their contemporaries fade away to time. If there is a parallel scope for electronic music, then Porter Robinson is right there near the top, as the Atlanta-born DJ, record producer, and singer-songwriter has remained in-demand and notable long after the EDM craze wore off with last night’s pills. With new third album SMILE! hitting this past July via Mom+Pop, Robinson […]

Veteran Swedish melodic punk four piece Rebuke has risen from the ashes with a brand new single “Sharp Left Turn (The Trolley Problem)”! The track has already been melting faces for a few days on Spotify and elsewhere, and now we have the distinct honor of bringing you the exclusive premiere for this lil ripper’s music video. Head down below and check that shit out right here, right now!

Vocalist and guitarist Petter Mossberg shares, “We like to say this is a song about running over Nazis with your car, but it’d be more fair to say it’s a rumination on courage, conviction, sacrifice, and ethics. A Straight up philosophical masterpiece, if you ask us. Please ask us.” The accompanying music video, shot in the band’s practice space captures Rebuke’s high-octane energy and no-holds-barred approach. Bassist Phil Nordling notes on the experience; “Yeah we also got out in traffic, in a truly death-defining stunt! We wanted to stay true to the Rebuke formula of fitting as many parts as possible into as short a time as possible, aiming for the end result to grab one’s attention and full-speed running away with it, while maintaining a cohesive, incisive song”.

Rebuke has forged a global alliance with Double Helix Records, Lockjaw Records, Pee Records, and Punk Rock Radar for the release of their highly anticipated new full-length album. Stay tuned to Dying Scene for much, much more to come on that!

Shkreli ordered to turn over all copies of world's most expensive record

The battle for the world's most expensive record rages on. As you may remember, in 2015, Martin Shkreli made news for both drastically raising the price of a rare HIV medication from $13.50 to $750 a pill, and also for buying the one-of-a-kind Wu Tang clan album Once Upon a Time In Shaolin for two million dollars. The two million dollar sale made the album the most expensive album ever sold, surpassing Elvis' first acetate and White Album serial number 1. But, after Shkreli got the record, he was convicted of three felonies related to security fraud and had his assets seized by the Federal government, including his Wu-Tang album. Shkreli went to jail for a few years. The Feds sold the record to a then-unknown buyer for a whopping $4+ million. That buyer turned out to be PleasrDAO, a "collective" that describes itself as a "collective of Defi leaders, early NFT collectors, and digital artists who have built a formidable yet benevolent reputation for acquiring cultural significant piece with a charitable twist." PleasrDao has the physical copy of the record in a vault, but according to a lawsuit filed by the… "NFT collective"… Shkreli has threatened to release digital and perhaps physical copies of the record to the public. Shkreli has allegedly stated he will stream the album on one of his livestreams. In April, on Twitter, Shkreli clearly stated "LOL i have the mp3s you moron". The suit was filed in June and late last week, Judge Pamela Chen in the Eastern District of New York granted a preliminary restraining order against Shkreli for “possessing, using, disseminating, or selling any interest in the Wu-Tang Clan album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” or any copies or reproductions thereof. Shkreli’s lawyer Edward Paltzik said “this Order is merely a preliminary measure entered by the Court to maintain the perceived status quo before any discovery occurs – the Order has no bearing whatsoever on the final outcome of the case.” We will keep you updated.

Blood Incantation to release 'Stargate' film

On October 4, Blood Incantation will release their new album Absolute Elsewhere, via century Media. As part of that album, the band is also releasing a short film which uses a portion of that album as a soundtrack. As per the band, "The Stargate presents the saga of a mysterious artifact and its victims in a hallucinatory synthesis of science fiction and folk horror, where mind bending imagery and unsettling atmospheres converge in a surreal tale of primeval blood magic, interdimensional travel and grotesque otherworldly technology beginning in the Dark Ages and journeying into voids of deep space."
