After raising 158% of the set goal on their PledgeMusic campaign, emo godfathers Saves The Day, entered the studio today to begin recording their 8th studio album. The band posted a lengthy update on facebook for their fans with a little video of them acoustically performing a new song called “Ring Pop” which will surely appear on the forthcoming release.

Now is February. We are at Rancho Recordo. Today we begin tracking our currently untitled album number eight. We’re so excited we may just leap into this laptop screen, reach in through the internet, come out the other side and mosh on you. A loving gorilla-mosh, of course. !!!!!!insert gorilla-pizza-maker-mosh emoticon!!!!!
This has been a humbling journey we’ve embarked on. Your pledges have helped finance studio time, gear shipments, gear fixing, but most of all, this system has allowed us to dedicate 100% on making one of the most passionate Saves The Day record yet. We wish you could all be here at Rancho Recordo, crowded around and listening as we make these demos come to life.

We appreciate everyone’s patience in fulfilling pledges – the most important one we’re working on is completing this record. Every pledger will receive it in one form or another. Still, we’re moving forward on some of the others – basic tracks have been recorded for the requested covers, and we’re sorting out logistics for the upcoming house shows. Handwritten lyrics will resume after the record is done (we need Chris’s guitar arm right now).
