Weezer already working on their next album

In an interview with A.V. Club, Weezer front-man, Rivers Cuomo, revealed that he has already started working on the group’s next album.

The band, who just released their ninth studio album “Hurley” this week on Epitaph Records, have plenty of songs in the pipeline for the follow-up according Cuomo.

“We just started working on our 10th record,” he explained. “I was talking to the producer and he was saying, ‘These songs sound totally different from ‘Hurley’. That was kind of dark and the new songs sound like you’re 16, riding your bicycle to get a Slurpee.'”

He continued: “As a writer, I had no idea – I wasn’t shooting for anything different. That’s just what happened to come up.”

The album – which will be released in 2011 – will be their fifth in four years.

“It hardly feels like a regimen, because it’s the greatest joy in the world for me,” Cuomo told Avclub.com. “I’m constantly fighting with my manager to reduce the amount of time I have to spend on promotional activities, so I can get back in the studio and work on new music.”
