"The Misery Suite" - Black Guy Fawkes

Back in 2023 in January I started therapy for the first time. After the first year, I started writing a record originally that was going to be across between Radiohead and Bloc Party. But I realized later on that felt wrong. It wasn’t until I put on Nirvana’s in utero and I just love the guitar sounds so much and that record in general. I think two days later I wrote the beginning and final track of the record and the misery suite was born.

The misery suite itself is what I called my office at the time because I was sitting in there either brooding or having therapy sessions on my laptop and it was a way for me to get out, what I needed to, at the time.

This is a record confronting things that I was learning about myself in that first year of therapy, the baggage I walked in with and the lessons learned. 

Another important thing about this record too is that I received a grant for $2500 from the Maryland State arts council and that was a big push for me to go extravagant with this and really have fun.
