"Dave Hause...And The Mermaid" - Dave Hause

Dave Hause has long been a favorite around these here parts, dating back to well before he put out his first solo record, 2011’s Resolutions. In the years since, Hause has thrived as a solo artist, generally writing and playing alongside his brother Tim, and increasingly alongside keyboard player extraordinaire Mark Masefield and occasionally though not enough for some of us, out in front of his full rock band, The Mermaid. While the parts changed a few times in earlier years, the current lineup of the brothers Hause, Masefield, Kevin Conroy on drums and Luke Preston on bass has proven to be the most formidable. The band, shall we say, rocks! But while some iteration of the band has played a great many shows with Hause before, they haven’t all appeared on a record together as a full-fledged band.

Until now! Here we are, nearly a decade and a half into his run as a solo artist, and Dave Hause is slated to release his first new album backed solely by his band, The Mermaid. Entitled Dave Hause…And The Mermaid, the record was recorded in Vancouver earlier this year. We’ll have an awful lot more to say about this record in the coming months – it’s kind of our thing when one of the Hauses puts out a record – but suffice it to say that the album is due out September 26th, and that pre-orders are available now. As is custom for both Dave and Tim, the album is self-released, though they’ve got some help from SBAM Records across the pond.
