Blink 182 studio update: Mark Hoppus talks new sound and tentative release date

According to an update made today on Blink 182 co-vocalist Mark Hoppus’s blog, things in the studio are moving along steadily with the new Blink album.  He gives some insight on the direction the coming album’s sound stating:

“There’s still a long to way to go before the album is done, but already it seems like the songs are both taking a step even further than we took on the last album, while also going back to the sound of some of the earlier albums.”

Hmmm… Stating you’re progressing in your sound and in the same sentence also stated your going back to you roots sounds like standard marketing bullshit so I personally will hold judgement until I can listen to something.

Regarding when fans can expect the much anticipated album he writes:

“We have a date for the completion of the album. We want to deliver the record in April or May, for release very soon afterward.”

Blink’s last release (self-titled) came out four score + seven years ago, minus four score, on Geffen Records.
