The band had a message to share along with the track: “A few weeks back music lost another one of its legends. Tom Petty is an artist we all admired, as he changed the music industry by doing things his own way. We’ve been laying low the last few weeks in preparation for some of the biggest opportunities this band has had. This downtime, coupled with his loss, inspired us to do something a little different. Tracked, mixed, and engineered by our own Harrison Bormann, here’s our take on “American Girl”. Enjoy.”
