Every Friday the punk rock geniuses here at Dying Scene unleash some punk rock trivia. Today’s “fun factoid” is about yet another side project from a Rancid member.
There seems to be no end to the number of side projects coming out of Rancid members over the last few years, but this one isn’t from Tim, Lars or Matt. Apocalypse Radio is a straight up punk rock act formed by Rancid drummer Branden Steineckert and ex The Used member Brian Patchett. The two musicians quietly put out an album they recorded on an 8-track digital recorder back in 2001 and then got busy with their other projects (Rancid and The Used). Well, apparently they’ve found time to record again because out of nowhere they’ve released a brand new self-titled album, containing 16 new tracks. If you like Rancid and/or Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards I think you’ll find it worth your while to check these dudes out. You can stream their first album here and their new album is available for purchase on iTunes.
