Fun Factoid Friday: Tim and Matt’s band between Operation Ivy and Rancid

Every Friday the punk rock geniuses here at Dying Scene are going to unleash a little bit of punk scene trivia all over your asses. Today’s “fun factoid” is about Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman’s little known band (no, it’s not Devil’s Brigade).

Alright, you’ve heard of Rancid and you’ve heard of Operation Ivy.  You probably also know that Rancid front-man, Tim Armstrong, and Rancid bassist, Matt Freeman, were both in Operation Ivy together.  What you might not know, however, is that after Operation Ivy disbanded, the two musicians actually started a different band before forming Rancid.  It was a punk/ska act called Downfall. They only played three shows but they did record enough tracks for a full-length album, which never saw the light of day.  3 songs, however, did pop up on various compilation albums put out in the early 90s.  Rumors of a CD release called “Get Ready for Action” have been circulating for years but at this point it doesn’t look likely.
