It’s almost Halloween, and because cover songs are like costumes for bands, we’d share a classic Halloween punk song with you.
With Halloween around the corner, we thought it was appropriate to show you a couple covers by AFI, Alkaline Trio, and Dropkick Murphys of the Misfits tune “Halloween,” which originally appeared on a single released by the band on Halloween in 1981.
AFI’s version can be found on their “All Hallow’s EP,” released in 1999. Dropkick Murphys recorded the song originally for a now-rare Japanese split, but the song can now be found on the second volume of the band’s singles, b-sides and rarities collection. The Alkaline Trio version, by far the most different from the original, was released as a single on Asian Man Records in 2002.
