Interview: Joey Cape (Lagwagon) on song writing and inspiration

If you love Lagwagon half as much as I do, you’ll love this lengthy interview on the process and inspiration of songwriting with singer Joey Cape!

Seriously, you might need a few cups of Mr. Coffee as this is a pretty long interview, but it’s loaded with gems.  While talking about the trials of recording in a basement, Joey Cape mentions faulty pipes and “sometimes you’re in the middle of a take and somebody flushes the toilet and it’s like, “Oh, fuck. Whatever.” Or a vocal. Especially a vocal. “I don’t wanna sing that again. I hit it well.”

Check it out here if you’ve got some time.

Lagwagon’s last album was the short but sweet “I Think My Older Brother Used To Listen To Lagwagon” released August 19th, 2008 on Fat Wreck Chords. Cape’s last release was “Doesn’t Play Well With Others” put out DIY on via his own website.
