LA based punk/riot girl band Family Pet have exploded into being, and unleashed two, ripping singles via their soundcloud. Check it out “Family Pet” and “I’m a Bitch” below!
The sister/sister punk rockers attack your speakers with a lo-fi, venomous assault on the shallow and toxic culture of patriarchy, the suburbs and complacent American culture. You can feel echoes of The Descendents and Misfits merging with the passion and power of L7 and the Lunachicks in the tracks “Family Pet” and “I’m a Bitch”. There’s a brilliant simplicity and laconic melody to the music, and a visceral anger behind the lipstick snarl lyrics.
My favorite lyric of the year is “I don’t care much for consequences, I just want your picket fences” off of “Family Pet”…eat your heart out, Milo.
The band’s debut album, Petty, is due out later this year. Keep these ladies on your radar.
