Jay Bentley on the possibility of Bad Religion retiring

Back in the spring of 2011, we learned from frontman Greg Graffin that Bad Religion would probably not record or tour anymore after their next album, which is now known as True North and was released last month. Well, bassist Jay Bentley has cleared up any misconceptions about this rumor with Spinner, stating:

“Is it our last record, is it our last tour, I don’t know. That’s living outside of the moment, and fuck that plan. It’s like any relationship. We could wake up one morning and decide we don’t want to be part of it anymore and then it’s over. So we look at every show as potentially our last.”

If Bad Religion are really breaking up, this wouldn’t be first time they did that. The band once split up after the release of their 1983 album Into the Unknown, when all the members went on to pursue side projects or went back to school. They reformed just prior to the release of their iconic 1988 album Suffer, and have continued recording and performing since then.
