Joey Cape of Lagwagon recently explained to Fuse music the meaning behind “May 16th”, one of the band’s most well known songs, and you can check that out right here.
The Caper’s explanation is very sincere and not at all a happy story, in that “on May 16th I woke up in a stranger’s apartment. It was the afternoon after a one night stand. From the window of the 3rd or 4th story I heard what sounded like a large group of people in a neighboring park celebrating. When I looked out the window I saw my friends wedding in progress at that very moment. The wedding I should have been in or at least been invited to.” Go check out the whole story.
Lagwagon just remastered and reissued their first five albums in a box set entitled “Putting Music In It’s Place” November 22nd on Fat Wreck Chords. Check out some tour dates here and go see a Lagwagon show!
