Man arrested for posting lyrics of a metal band on Facebook

We don’t often cover thrash metal bands on Dying Scene, but an Exodus fan named James Evans was arrested for posting the lyrics to “Class Dismissed (A Hate Primer)” on his Facebook page, and has been charged with making terroristic threats for posting the words to that song, which describe a school shooting to Facebook. About the incident, Exodus wrote:

“The idea that an individual in this great country of ours could be arrested for simply posting lyrics to a song is something I never believed could happen in a free society.

The song was written as a view through the eyes of a madman and in no way endorses that kind of fucked up behavior. It was the Virginia Tech massacre perpetrated by Seung-Hui Cho that was the subject and inspiration.”

Exodus will release their new album Blood In, Blood Out on October 14th via Nuclear Blast, which is the band’s first with vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza since 2004’s Tempo of the Damned. To support the album, the band will tour with Slayer and Suicidal Tendencies this fall.
