Official Album Video Trailer for “Punk Goes Classic Rock” and Track-by-Track for 3 songs

The folks at Fearless Records have just posted a video trailer for their newest upcoming compilation, Punk Goes Classic Rock, which is set to hit stores April 27. Watch the video here, and while you’re at it, check out three track-by-tracks written by the bands.

Hit The LightsMore Than A Feeling (originally performed by Boston)
We chose “More than a Feeling” because it fits in nicely with the HTL cover song alumni. Unfortunately, while Boston is a great band, all of us can no longer listen to this song as we spent a good week listening to it over and over and over and over.
– Nick Thompson (Hit The Lights – Vocals)

Mayday ParadeWe Are The Champions (originally performed by Queen)
When we heard about the opportunity to be on Fearless’ Punk Goes Classic Rock, we knew exactly what song we wanted to cover. We chose “We Are The Champions” by Queen because it’s a powerful song that we felt we could recreate to give it a Mayday feel. While recording the song, most of our ideas started flowing but the biggest challenge was how we could make the song sound like our band. Throughout the song, each chorus gets bigger and bigger by adding more pounding drums and lead guitar parts. We incorporated a lot of gang vocals into the songs as well like we’ve done in a few of our own songs. The song took two days to record in Valdosta, Georgia at Earthsound Recording with our amazing friend/producer Lee Dyess. He recorded our EP, “Tales Told By Dead Friends,” and our cover of “When I Grow Up” by The Pussy Cat dolls. We love the cover that we did and we hope you enjoy it.
– Jake Bundrick (Mayday Parade – Drums / Backing Vocals)

The AlmostFree Fallin’ (originally performed by Tom Petty)
Choosing the track that we wanted to cover for this compilation was way more difficult than actually arranging and recording the freaking thing! We tossed around a pile of awesome songs. We even arranged, and rocked a few out. Still, for some reason, we always came back to Tom Petty. He’s an easy choice for us – the ultimate “argument ender”. Randy Nichols (our manager) mentioned that we had been covering free falling for a year or so. Why not go a step further and put it to tape? We recorded in the studio at Hurley HQ with the legend Cameron Webb. It was fun, painless, and an experience we will never forget! Thanks Mr Petty for writing such a great tune.
– Jay Vilardi (The Almost – Guitar / Backing Vocals)
