One Nine Nine Four: a 90’s punk scene documentary

1994_a2_03Very few would argue that the mid 90’s marked the golden era of punk rock.  The year 1994 was especially monumental with releases like Offspring‘s Smash, Green Day‘s Dookie, Rancid‘s Let’s Go and Bad Religion‘s Stranger Than Ficion, all producing singles that would break punk rock into mainstream radio.  1994 was also the year NOFX put out their landmark album Punk In Drublic, Lagwagon released Trashed and Strung Out debuted with Another Day In Paradise.  For the next few years labels like Fat Wreck Chords, Epitaph, Nitro, Hopeless, Lookout!, Fearless and a handful of others would churn out album after album of punk rock classics that would elevate Punk Rock as a genre to a new found status among the among the mainstream music community.

Well, a decade and a half later somebody has finally decided to make a serious go at creating a film that would document the birth, grown, and explosion of the punk scene in the 90’s.  That somebody is 26 year-old Australian Jai Al-Attas and he is oh so close to making this documentary a reality.  He’s got all the interviews with all the right bands, the footage, the editing, and the music to make it a must see for any punk fan.  What he doesn’t have, however, are the rights to the music or the money to pay for the music clearences, which is why he needs our help.

Jai needs about $30,000 more dollars to get this film with the music released and is accepting donations from anybody willing to help this project see the light of day.

Donate to ONE NINE NINE FOUR and help them raise enough funds to finish the film by paying for the music clearances. In return for donating you can receive a range of rewards from pre-ordering limited edition copies of the DVD, exclusive invites to the premiere, Executive Producer credits, signed Gibson Les Paul guitars by Bille Joe from Green Day to getting to spend the day with Tony Hawk!

Please check out all of the details at their pledge site on kickstarter.com here.
