New Jersey-based post-hardcore group Senses Fail have announced that they will be changing some of the lyrics to their debut EP, From the Depths of Dreams. The decision was made after the band’s vocalist raised issues with some of the lyrical content via the official Senses Fail Twitter account:

Later, the band announced that they would be altering another classic track from their catalogue, “Bastard Son”:

To justify the decision, the band then stated the following:

However, many fans were not impressed with the decision by an artist to change their own artwork…

As many of you will already know, melodic punk stalwarts Bad Religion have a new record on the way. We reported as such in November. At the time, however, we were given no indication what the time frame would be for the release.

It has since emerged that the legendary group will make an official announcement about when the album will be released in January 2019. The band’s guitarist, Brett Gurewitz, announced the announcement to LA radio station KROQ last week. The title of the record is unknown for now but it is expected to feature recent single “My Sanity”.

The release will be the 17th album by Bad Religion and their first full-length effort with guitarist Mike Dimkich from The Cult and drummer Jamie Miller of …And you will know us by the trail of dead.

The previous release from Bad Religion 2013’s True North.

My best buds and absolute American heroes in Noogy just ended a 6-day Texas stretch with legendary punk band, T.S.O.L., who is currently on tour promoting their 2017 release, The Trigger Complex. I hit Andre (Noogy) up wondering if it would be at all possible to set up an interview with the man who has become one of my idols – novelist, singer, and American demon – Jack Grisham. He and Anthony hit me back a few nights later from San Antonio, in between sets of rocking out with Piňata Protest and Dead 77, to let me know it was on. I was already planning to roadie the show at Three Links (Dallas), and the conceptualization of this conversation began to dawn on me. Did you read the book? (American Demon) Jack Grisham’s nuts! I knew right away that we were going to be best friends. Read that story below. [short read: 1 minute/ long read: 20 minutes]

Lead singer Phil Georgoulopoulos said the following about the album’s lead single “Yuzi”:

“Yuzi is about putting the puzzle of yourself back together after the end of a relationship you thought defined you. That’s kinda the theme throughout our songs in many ways, and the video ties in a lot of those themes but mainly its about finding a place where you can finally find some peace.”

Watch the video below.

The band (originally from Greece) have worked tirelessly on the UK scene over the past few years and it’s encouraging to see them doing so well. They have honed their sound and their live show has gotten stronger and stronger. Expect to see some big tour announcements from them soon.

STTOOOKKKAAAGGEE!!… Oh, sorry. Is this thing typing? My cat just crossed the keys – a Cheshire cat – and out the front door. No worries, though. This band seems perfectly capable of chasing after it.

Fastfade are a group of well-meaning young F.S.P’s (fast sloppy punks) out of London kicking some cool palm-mutes and starry-eyed riffs, aggressive basslines with big-band breakdowns, and a drummer who, as far as my drummer fetish is concerned, kind of does it for me with his sped up, pop-punk simplicity. With sophistication in simpatico skate punk delivery, Fastfade can go “boo boo da, boo boo da” on the snare drum of my heart all day long, and maybe/maybe not, I let them get away with it.

This is one for the snotty-nosed and broken-hearted – fourteen tracks of progressive pop punk blending the best of those great bands we’re all so comfortable with under the covers, but when it comes to date-night, “Yeah, they were good until Dookie came out.” Relax. Fastfade is all “Netflix and chill.” No reason to be antsy. These are the golden daze. Backing vocals are on point throughout, with moments of power-pop undertones reminding us that skateboarders get to have friendships and girlfriends too, sometimes, like that night you went to bed with Tell All Your Friends and realized that the back-and-forth was actually pretty pleasant… Maybe it was just beer goggles. Songs like “Naked Attraction” are supplemented with All-esque inspired riffage, where happy/poppy tunes capitulate to themes of overthinking, loneliness and being a fucking weirdo. “These days in between/ strung out on caffeine/ making sense of what don’t make sense to me.”

Fastfade is coming of age. Hell, if they ever make it stateside, these boys are going to need a friendly liaison at the bar. I know you’ll be there when the time is right. Their new album, Happy If You Aren’t, releases December 14 on Umlaut Records and is available here for pre-order. You can stream that album below, and if not… then why not just help me kill myself, then? ‘Cause that’s what’s gonna fucking happen. Gawd. WTF!? Peace. [Read more…]
