Brooklyn, New York’s The Mad Doctors have got to be the hardest working band in the big apple. It seems like they just can’t go a week without a gig, a release, or getting up and out of NYC for tour dates all over the North East and beyond.
Just yesterday Seth Applebaum, Josh Park, and Greg Hanson released another new single with “Yuengling Malmsteen,” which is their beer soaked side of a split 7” with fellow Brooklynites Heavy Traffic. The new tune came on Aug. 11 along with an announcement of the opening of vinyl pre-orders which will be available Sept. 22.
“Yuengling Malmsteen” is the right sort of track to hit the booze hard to, and then to hit someone else. It’s the sort of song that you can envision a liquor fueled barroom brawl between gargantuan bikers and dangerous punks going down in your local dive. Give it a listen below.

This is their first release since last summer’s full-length Bio/Feedback and like all Clipper Arnold penned tunes it’s fuzzy, it’s aggressive, and you can bet your bippy it’s well thought out.
Clipper is one of contemporary punk’s most contemplative songwriters and “Things Fall Apart” is very much continuing in that vein for the Arizona State Political Science major. With all that is going on in the American political landscape just about any poli/sci major might tell you they feel like things are falling apart.
The current incarnation of Red Tank! which features Clipper as the only original member and the only member leftover from even last summer’s lineup just completed a National tour and are back home preparing to roll out the rest of their record.

The 5 track EP is the 3rd release from The Vansaders, with their last EP This Time Around released last August.
The main reason I love writing for this site is because I get to work on articles like this one: where I get to feature an absolutely rad band I just found. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Dead Wells. Check out their debut EP stream below. Hailing from the mecca of the midwest, Chicago, Dead Wells […]

Hailing from the mecca of the midwest, Chicago, Dead Wells play a blistering, melodic style of cruncy, mid-western punk rock with pop informed chorus hooks. The band describes themselves as “good dudes who like bad beer”, but need to add “good band” to complete their bio. I really enjoyed this record.
Fans of The Dopamines and Off With Their Heads will dig their sound. Hell, one of the songs is titled “Keepin’ it Kodos.” Simpsons references are always welcomed and appreciated. [Read more…]

Few bands have the impact that No Use For A Name had. They developed a bouncy, melodic style of songwriting that resonated with millions of people across the world. NUFAN’s sound ranged from the early hardcore/thrash influenced punk rock of Incognito and Don’t Miss The Train to the melodic power-pop driven punk of Hard Rock Bottom.
NUFAN was truly a band that everyone could find something to love in their catalog, and a band I hold dear to my heart. I still love Tony’s unique voice, and the incredible energy of the band that made those songs feel alive.
The band’s storied career was ultimately cut short by the tragic passing of frontman and guitarist Tony Sly in 2012. NUFAN’s final record, The Feel Good Record of the Year was released in 2008 on Fat Wreck.

The track comes from the band’s latest album, Inviting Light, released this past April on Rise Records.
The video, which certainly seems to feature Dan Hedaya (the litigator Dad from Clueless) as a crowd-favorite karaoke star, rocking out with a parade of regular folks taking their turns at the mic. If it ain’t him, don’t sue me. I love Clueless.

The underground jack-of-all-trades has recently started a blog featuring his poetry, called Hits of Acid.
I wish this report was about a reunion of Op Ivy, but until that comes to fruition, we can enjoy Michaels’ nuanced, slightly psychedelic prose-based poetry.
