A few months ago, it was announced that Jawbreaker would reunite to play this year’s Riot Fest. However, the real reunion happened last night at a secret show in Albany, CA. If you weren’t one of the lucky few to see this show in person, you can watch the band play “The Boat Dreams from the Hill”, “Condition Oakland”, and “Chemistry” for the first time in 21 years below.

It seems this won’t be the only show Jawbreaker will be playing this month. They appear to have a sold out show at the Rickshaw Shop in San Francisco lined up for August 12th. [Read more…]

Avenged Sevenfold just released an unexpectedly awesome cover of Del Shannon’s classic “Runaway”. The song features Warren Fitzgerald of The Vandals on guitar, and it’s completely different from anything else I’ve heard from the band. Give the track a listen below.

Here’s what Warren to say about getting the opportunity to record with A7X:

“I’ve known the Avenged Sevenfold guys for years and obviously Brooks played with The Vandals, and our bands are both from Huntington Beach, so the ties run deep. But I was still surprised and honored that they asked me to play on the track. I think it’s a really cool choice for a cover and the guys were very generous in the studio. They’re all incredible musicians and to have them say, ‘Do what you do,’ was really flattering. So I did, and we had a blast, and I’m tickled to death with how it all turned out.”

Avenged Sevenfold released their latest album The Stage in 2016. It was their first release to feature Brooks Wackerman (formerly of Bad Religion) on drums. [Read more…]

The World/Inferno Friendship Society is more like a punk circus than it is a band, and Jack Terricloth has been the unquestioned ringleader for more than twenty years. It’s hard to believe that a sound so bizarre has endured for more than two decades, especially among the New York punk scene which has very little tolerance for nuance. But WIFS has carved out their niche in the Big Apple with a mix of otherworldly talent and theatrical pageantry unmatched by any of their contemporaries.

The group has truly graduated some greats, like Brian Viglione of the Dresden Dolls, Yula Beeri, and Franz Nicolay (to name just a few). But no matter who they have to replace, they continue to bring the same level of tenacity, talent, and showmanship, due in large part to their diabolical leader Mr. Terricloth.

WIFS has an imminent big-time show at one of Brooklyn’s up-and-coming punk venues, Brooklyn Bazaar, and they are working tirelessly on their new record. But preparatory to unleashing their 13-piece carnival of horrors onto New York, Jack Terricloth sat down with Dying Scene to talk about the new record, how he hopes to one day reunite with Sly Stone, and meeting the members of Leftover Crack through their mutual drug dealer.

From the steamy San Fernando Valley this tremendous young trio released their debut, self titled EP earlier this year. Their unique garage-y hardcore sound, with it’s metal inspired guitar riffs and simple, gut thumping bass serves as a calling card, setting them apart from their peers. The freshman effort features seven sensational tracks including an impeccable cover of the Ramones single, “I’m Not Jesus”. But somehow we’ve slept on ’em, so you’re only hearing about them now! To make up for our transgressions, we reached out to the guys to see if we could stream the album for our precious readers and since they’re such upstanding young gentlemen, they agreed! So, crank up the volume (you’re neighbors are gonna want to hear it too!) and stream this ripper in it’s entirety, exclusively here at Dying Scene, below!
