Elijah Llinas, the singer-songwriter behind Human Kitten, recently theorized that his most recent album release, “I’m Afraid of Everything,” may have been the last release under the name Human Kitten. However with the announcement of these two EPs Elijah stated: “HUMAN KITTEN ISN’T OVER. I’m currently aiming to simultaneously release a pair of two 7-song companion EPs by the end of the summer entitled “New Game” and “Game Over,” that will explore beginnings and endings, expectations and realities, pasts and futures, and all of the parallels they end up creating… Now I just have to start recording. See ya on the other side.”

While Musink Fest may not be mentioned among the top tier festivals, the three day SoCal punk rock fest and tattoo convention (and car show!) which is the brainchild of Blink 182‘s Travis Barker, has been gaining in popularity lately with that band lineups getting better and better every Spring. This year, the festival celebrated it’s 10th anniversary with what was arguably the best overall lineup in it’s history. So good in fact, that we called in our best coyote to smuggle AnarchoPunk across the southern border into Orange County just to cover it. Check out his review and photo gallery of Day One acts NOFX, The Vandals, Lagwagon and A Wilhelm Scream below!

The folk punk scene in The City of Angels is stacked with all sorts of awesome acts. Today, we’re proud to present you with one of our favorite bands from that extraordinarily deep pool of talent. Birote the Musical, from San Dimas, plays a unique, experimental brand of aggressive, foot stomping folk. The trio has been around for about five years now and has become a staple of the scene when not on tour. We caught them at one of LA’s (in)famous backyard shows a year ago and instantly fell in love with their chaotic, rustic style. So, we got in touch and begged them to send us a track to stream, exclusively for Dying Scene readers and although begging shouldn’t be rewarded, they were kind enough to comply! The song, “Christmas Boy The Vietnamese Wonder” is from their second LP Bulldog which was released late last year. Give it a listen, below. We’re pretty sure you’re gonna dig it!
