Punk Rock Trivia: “August 8th” should have been “August 9th” (and Fat Mike’s retarded)

Every once in a while the punk rock geniuses here at Dying Scene unleash a tasty little nugget of punk rock trivia in an effort to blow our readers’ minds. Also, we like to make ourselves feel smart.  Today’s fun factoid is about the NOFX song “August 8th” and how it should have been titled “August 9th.”

The song “August 8th” appears on NOFX’s 1996 album “Heavy Petting Zoo” and was written as an ode (for lack of a better word) to the death of Greatful Dead singer Jerry Garcia.  Today Fat Mike posted the tweet:

Just to tell the story straight. When I wrote August 8th, Wikipedia wasn’t around yet. I got the date wrong. He died on the 7th, Haha.

Actually, Mike, Wikipedia says he died on August 9th.
