Handball Deathmatch are the next band in the queue for our rapid fire Ska Weekender questions! Despite having one of the best band names we’ve ever heard they also play ska tunes with a punk aftertaste that are almost impossible not to dance along to. Plus, few bands include the Pokemon theme song as part of their set which is worth a squillion brownie points to us. Read their interview here.
SKA WEEKENDER IS THIS WEEKEND! WOO HOO! Scope all the details here. Come along. Have a beer. Dance your arse off.
Who are you and what do you do with your band?
Pugsley – Bass/Expert bus driver.
Mitch Brown – Ye Olde Tub player/International Rock, Paper, Scissors champion.
What are you guys currently working on?
This interview! Nah we are currently working on our Debut EP hopefully to be released later this year.
Tell us about your live show…in just 2 words.
Punskariffic! Radtastic!
What would the world be like now if The Beatles had been a ska band?
Imagine all the people skanking for today?
If The Beatles were a ska band they probably wouldn’t have been as big as they were so perhaps the world would be missing that one amazing influence when it comes to music. But if they had the same success being a ska band then I believe ska would be a lot more mainstream and referred to as “old people music”.
If you could cover a ska album from front to back, which album would that be and why?
If we could cover any ska album I think it would be any Streetlight Manifesto album as we wish we were that talented to even play a whole SM song.
Tell us a bit about being a band after ska is “dead.”
Ska’s dead? Shit we better start playing Indie!
What does your band offer the Ska Weekender that other bands on the bill don’t?
An EPIC cover of the Pokémon theme song played terribly.
Which member of your band is going to be the most outrageous at the Ska Weekender and how?
Steve “THE MACHINE” Thompson! He will probably end up off the stage somewhere in the crowd or perhaps out on the street blowing his trombone at pedestrians.
What band, apart from your own, are you most looking forward to at this year’s Ska Weekender?
How can one answer this? The amazing acoustic tunes of Dan P, The mega awesome party songs of Chris Duke & The Royals, A whole set of Sublime covers, the tripped out chilled as fuck drug influenced sounds of The Bennies. Seriously how can anyone pick?
Any last words?
Make sure you get a ticket as this show is something not to be missed! Also head on down early and have a beer with us before the show starts! Cya There!
