On June 13, Protomartyr played at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, Ontario. Weird Nightmare opened the show. Protomartyr released their album Formal Growth In The Desert earlier this month. Our photographer Stephen McGill was there to capture the show. Check out his photos below.
Knocked Loose have released two new songs. They are called “Deep in the Willow” and “Everything Is Quiet Now” and are collected as the Upon Loss single which is available digitally and physically via Pure Noise Records. The songs come with a video that was directed and edited by Eric Richter and lead vocalist Bryan Garris. Knocked Loose will be touring this summer and released their EP A Tear in the Fabric of Life in 2021 and released their album A Different Shade of Blue in 2019. Check out the video and dates below.
Thrice have announced tour dates celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Artist in The Ambulance for Europe and the UK. Town Portal will be joining them on their European dates and Palm Reader will be joining them on their UK dates. Thrice are currently touring the US, will be touring Australia in September, and will be playing more US dates in October. Thrice released their revisited version of The Artist In The Ambulance earlier this year. Check out the dates below.
Alice Cooper announced a new album today. Road is out August 25 on earMUSIC. The album is produced by Bob Ezrin and features Cooper's touring band on the tracks. In a release, Cooper stated: "“For ‘Road,’ I wanted the band to be involved in the foundation of all the songs. I only see these guys when we’re on the road. So, I wanted them to be as tight as they are for the show but on all new material. When you have a band this good, I believe in showing it off, and this is my way of doing so.” you can check out the lead single below.

Bad Operation have released a video for their new song “Grandma’s Car”. The video was filmed at Humidity Skate Shop in New Orleans and was edited by Mitch Wells. The song is off their upcoming Wavebreaker 4 split with Joe Gittleman which will be out June 16 via Bad Time Records. Bad Operation released their album Bad Operation in 2020. The Cucumbers are back! Maybe you know them and maybe you don't. They were are East coast new wave band in the '80s that evolved into an alternating art-rock and folk-rock group… and they made a lot of good music including the hot single "My Boyfriend." Well, after about 20 years of silence, they are cranking out the new tunes! And fittingly, today we are debuting the new song "Old Shoes." The track talks about coming back around again to old relationships and finding that the magic is still there. Interestingly, while the track sits comfortably with the band's late '80s repertoire, calling back to Americana with a contemporary lyrical edge- it also underscores how the band kinda, sorta, presaged folk-punk. Plus, the actual song craft is *chef's kiss* AND it is a response to the band's very first song, and their first hit, "My Boyfriend." Speaking to Punknews about the track, singer Deanna Shoshkes stated: "'Old Shoes' is a companion piece to 'My Boyfriend,' the very first song by The Cucumbers, about a young couple just starting out together. 'My boyfriend won't wash the dishes or the sink or the floor or make the bed.' In 'Old Shoes,' I take a look at the same couple, many years later. 'I may not be shiny and new, but I'm the one that fits you.' My friend Rebecca Turner told me she'd written a song about our friendship called 'Water Shoes.' Before I'd even heard her song, it put the idea in my head to write a song about shoes!" Jon Shoshkes of the band adds, "The video is mostly clips of old shoes, some ours, some not. Hint: we're not tango dancers."(We have no idea what he is insinuating!) The band's new album Old Shoes is out July 21, 2023 and you can check out the title track below, right now!

Today, we have somethign very, very cool to premiere… the new track by Graf Orlock! You all know the GOs. They locked together blistering hardcore and grindcore with movie snippets and other weird experiments. They are at once one of the msot savage and scary bands in punk and one of the funniest. Plus they have, bar none, the best album packaging ever- check out the famed Doombox which folded out into a full sized boombox and Destination Time Tomorrow which had an Alien face hugger sucking on the CD. Well, the band's brand new EP is just as rad… it's too bad that it will be their final release! End Credits will be out on June 23rd, 2023 via Vitriol Records. The record fittingly looks at the apocalypse through a cinematic eye- Snowpiercer, Children Of Men, Mad Max, Dredd, and Waterworld are all covered. Today, we are thrilled to debut the Children of Men track. Speaking to Punknews, the band's Justin Smith says, "Despite the song title evoking the King Crimson classic, this is actually in regard to the Children of Men DVD chapter selection of the same name, allowing the already convoluted nature of Graf Orlock to get even worse. The overall theme of this song is about the idea that humans can no longer reproduce. Depending on your worldview this could be the worst or best thing imaginable. In this song, this occurring and leading to an already reactionary society becoming MORE fascist seems to hit the right notes in our shared experience. This is the last track on the EP "End Credits" and seems to find the band in its most aggressive and ruthless form, perhaps contemplating the economic impact on the diaper industry and lucrative youth culture worldwide when there are no more kids to sell things to."
