Patti Smith to release new book, announces book tour

Patti Smith will be releasing a new book. It is called A Book of Days and will feature 365 photos taken during a year as well as vintage photographs. It was inspired by her Instagram account. The book will be out November 25 via Penguin and the description for the book reads, "In 2018, without any plan or agenda for what might happen next, Patti Smith posted her first Instagram photo: her hand with the simple message “Hello Everybody!” Known for shooting with her beloved Land Camera 250, Smith started posting images from her phone including portraits of her kids, her radiator, her boots, and her Abyssinian cat, Cairo. Followers felt an immediate affinity with these miniature windows into Smith’s world, photographs of her daily coffee, the books she’s reading, the graves of beloved heroes—William Blake, Dylan Thomas, Sylvia Plath, Simone Weil, Albert Camus. Over time, a coherent story of a life devoted to art took shape, and more than a million followers responded to Smith’s unique aesthetic in images that chart her passions, devotions, obsessions, and whims. Original to this book are vintage photographs: anniversary pearls, a mother’s keychain, and a husband’s Mosrite guitar. Here, too, are photos from Smith’s archives of life on and off the road, train stations, obscure cafés, a notebook always nearby. In wide-ranging yet intimate daily notations, Smith shares dispatches from her travels around the world."She has also announced a book tour and two shows in New York with her band. Check out the dates below.

John Joseph permanently barred from using Cro-Mags trademark

As you recall, a few years ago, Cro-Mags bassist/songwriter Harley Flanagan sued former singer John Joseph, asking the court to bar Joseph from using the Cro-Mags mark. That matter settled with Flanagan asserting ownership of the mark and John Joseph being granted a license to use "Cro-Mags JM."Earlier this year, Flanagan sued John Joseph for violating the Cro-Mags trademark again and the settlement agreement. Flanagan alleged that Joseph used the mark Cro-Mags JAM, which was outside of the license/settlement agreement. On September 30, this new mattered settled with papers being filed in the Southern District of New York Federla court. Joseph consented to a permanent injunction barring him from using the Cro-Mags mark, the Cro-Mags JM mnark, or an derivation thereof. As of today, Flanagan is the sole artist able to use the Cro-Mags mark. It appears the issue is FINALLY settled.
